Artisan Handcrafted Jewellery
Ethical & Sustainable
Sustainability extends well beyond the concept of recycling; it encompasses a comprehensive approach to ethical production and responsible sourcing. At Cerina Jewellery, we are committed to creating pieces that uphold our values of sustainability and social responsibility.
Our materials are ethically sourced, ensuring that we support local communities involved in the crafting process. We use recycled silver where possible, and our silver-plated and beaded jewellery comes from an eco friendly production company who adhere to high ethical standards, guaranteeing fair treatment and compensation for all artisans. And whilst our sterling silver stacking bracelets and several of our earrings are handmade by myself here in Scotland, the beads, gemstones and findings are mindfully sourced from suppliers who follow ethical and sustainable practices.
This commitment to sustainable materials is paired with a dedication to empowering local artisans. By creating fair income opportunities, we help enhance the livelihoods of these skilled craftsmen and their families, fostering independence and enriching the local community.
The production companies I work with adhere strictly to government guidelines regarding pay, working hours, and safe working environments, ensuring that ethical production practices are not just a goal but a reality. These companies also actively participate in sustainability initiatives such as recycling programs, tree planting, and beach clean-ups. A portion of their sales is directed towards supporting disadvantaged residents which has a positive impact on the community.
In our packaging, we strive for eco-friendliness: while the foam inserts are not recyclable, the rest of our materials are. Our mailing bags are biodegradable, and we are continually learning new ways to further reduce our environmental impact.
