Cerina jewellery is registered with the Edinburgh Assay Office who independently test our jewellery.

The purpose of hallmarking is to protect buyers of precious metals. The hallmark shows that the item has been independently tested and verified and conforms to all legal standards of purity.

All pieces over a certain weight sold in the UK and described as being made from gold, silver, platinum or palladium must have a legally recognised hallmark in accordance with the Hallmarking Act 1973. The minimum weight thresholds are:

Gold - 1gram

Silver - 7.78 grams

Platinum - 0.5 gram

Palladium - 1 gram

A complete hallmark consists of 3 compulsory marks. A sponsors mark, a metal mark and an assay office mark.

My handcrafted jewellery pieces over these weights will be marked with:

My individual sponsors mark.

The metal mark, 925 for silver.

The mark of the Edinburgh assay office where I have my pieces hallmarked.

All our sterling silver jewellery bears the 925 fineness mark regardless of its weight.
